About the project

Happy cities, walkable cities have been explored. So too has the global concept of smart cities. Yet our focus lies elsewhere. We center “care and responsibility” as the main organizing force for contemporary concepts for livable and sustainable cities that hold vastly different demographics, including children, elderly, and minorities. The projects are urban tactics, small-scale interventions related to placemaking, citizen engagement and urban community building. The future goal of the project is to expand the portfolio of SDN with urban interventions and design activism. We want to implement a tangible project in an urban setting, aiming to expand SDN activities in urban social design. The project and grant development also aims to explore the relationship between local and global in a social urban context with good practice exchanges, knowledge, toolkit and methodology transfer. In addition to local adaptations, the team will also publish a case study project paper.
