Caroline is currently a PhD researcher at the School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Combining anthropological ways of observing with designerly ways of thinking, she explores how to bridge insights about eldercare with the design world. From her undergraduate capstone project in 2015 of presenting a reminiscence environment art installation for Alzheimer's, to her later design practice on ageing village projects, the journey led her to start her PhD on residential eldercare services in 2020. During three years of immersive ethnography with local personal care workers, she is trying to interpret the socially constructed conflicts in the ageing society through the lens of surveillance and objectified bodies, while also envisioning the design possibilities for ethics of care.
